Stop Procrastination in its Tracks
Sometimes, when we have things to do, we might feel like putting them off until later. That's called procrastination. It can be hard to get started when we're feeling this way. But, maybe the way we're trying to handle it isn't quite right. Have you ever thought about that?
It's important to understand that everyone procrastinates. But, it's also important to find ways to manage it so you can get things done. This can happen for many reasons. When we don't know where to start or we're scared to do it wrong. Or don't feel like doing it. It's okay, everyone has this problem sometimes. If you want to stop procrastinating, you have to know why you're doing it in the first place.
Start with these:
Don’t label yourself a procrastinator.
You don't procrastinate because you're a lazy slug. You have a habit of procrastination, a tendency to put things off until the last minute. It's a pattern you've developed over time, a way of coping with the demands of life. You can break habits and change patterns. It takes a little discipline and effort.Calling yourself a procrastinator becomes part of your identity - Mel Robbins
You can learn how to stop procrastinating.
You ain't chained to procrastination. You can discover the art of getting things done. Many folks think it's an inherent trait, like a disease. But that's an excuse. With effort and discipline, anyone can learn to kick that habit. Start small, build momentum, and don't give up. It won't be easy, but it'll be worth it. So quit making excuses and get to work! Why do we procrastinate in the first place?
When you don't want to do something, it's because you feel worried inside. That feeling is called stress. You're not avoiding the work, you're avoiding the stress that comes with it. It's easier to push it away and distract yourself with something else, anything else, to feel better at the moment.

An action that can help you avoid procrastination indefinitely.
We usually think more about ourselves right now than we do about ourselves in the future. We like to have fun now and sometimes forget that it might cause problems later.
James Clear suggests starting a new habit by limiting it to two minutes. The idea is to make it simple and effortless, allowing for a smooth start and momentum building. The goal is not to complete the habit in two minutes, but to develop the discipline of showing up consistently. You have to do it regularly before you can get better at it.
An example in his own words, running a marathon is very hard. Running 5K is hard. Walking ten thousand steps is moderately difficult. Walking for ten minutes is easy. And putting on your running shoes is very easy. Your goal might be to run a marathon, but your gateway habit is to put on your running shoes. That’s how you follow the Two-Minute Rule.
Have a great week!
