Hi buddy,
Good morning. If this is your first reading the article, allow me to extend a personal invitation for you to spend a couple of minutes in your day to learn something new. What’s the better way to start the new year other than with a bunch of unprecedented bursts of motivation?
Something happened in Paris recently: The world’s first text message ever sent, "Merry Christmas," sold as an NFT for $121K. Don’t forget to send those holiday texts.
This seems like a great time to remind you that I’m not a financial advisor, just a guy on the internet with a bunch of his own opinions, who managed to outperform most financial advisors. I thought it’ll be fun to bring you guys along on this journey. So, here we go.
It’s January, and according to the “January Effect” hypothesis, stocks rise more in January than in other months. The January Effect is thought to result from a combination of tax-loss harvesting, investors repurchasing sold-off stocks and spending bonus money, and investor enthusiasm driven by New Year’s resolutions. You can start investing with the help of index funds/ ETFs which tracks the entire Indian market. All you’ve to do is contribute to it each week or month consistently. It’s Monday tomorrow, the market will open, you better start.
You might’ve started with your new year resolutions or haven’t. The easiest thing you can do is apply for a credit card.
Let’s dive into today’s topic.

Book review
I am a huge fan of non-fiction books. I usually tend to avoid fiction books, but somehow I was intrigued by the title of the book The 5 AM Club by Robin Sharma. Seeing the title of the book, few might be feeling the book will contain a set of rules or tactics which you can practice or teach yourself to wake up at 5 AM. But it’s not TRUE.
The author has made the teachings more interesting by adding a relatable context. Events that revolves around the characters mentioned as the Spellbinder, Billionaire Mr Riley, Male Artist (A professional painter), Women Entrepreneur.
This book is a creative work that seeks the attention of the readers. You can achieve epic results by just changing your rising habits. 5 am club is about changing daily habits that will change your life. This disciplined approach can help you attain desired results and greater heights in life.
The story begins with the entrepreneur character who lost most of her shares and she is so close to the situation where she is going to be fired by the company she started. Begin in such a situation she goes into depression and will try to commit suicide.
That’s when she finds the entry pass for the life-changing event by Spellbinder as the entry pass placed on the table by the entrepreneur mother. She feels to give it a try.
In the Spellbinder seminar hall, she meets the Artist who loves to paint but miss his focus multiple times in his life. While Spellbinder was giving the speech on how to get control of your life, he will fall down.
Entrepreneur and Artist feel bad about Spellbinder, While they are about to leave the seminar hall, they will meet Mr Riley (Billionaire). Three of them will start discussing Spellbinder speech. While leaving the seminar hall, Mr Riley offers both Entrepreneur and Artist to join him at the same place the next day at 5:00 AM. So he will teach on how to own the early morning and elevate our lives.
From the next day, the main story begins.
The main story is all about how the Entrepreneur and Artist followed the tactics explained by Billionaire and how their life changed afterwards.
Finally, the book ends with, what happened to these main four characters after five years (being in the 5 AM club).
Rating: 4 (out of 5)
Below are a few of the highlights noted while I am reading the book.
How could a once glorious life be ended swiftly and precisely, with minimum mess yet maximum impact?
Your surroundings really do shape your perceptions, your inspirations and your implementations.
Technology when intelligently used advances human progress. Through using technology wisely our lives become better, our knowledge becomes richer and our. The wonderful world becomes smaller. It’s the misuse of technology that’s ruining people’s minds, damaging their productivity and destroying the very fabric of our society. Your phone is costing you your fortune.
Once we transform the primary relationship with ourselves, we’ll find that our relationships with other people, our work, our income and our impact transform. Most people can’t stand themselves. So, they can never be alone. And silent. They need to constantly be with other people to escape their feelings of self-hatred over all their wasted potential, missing the wonders and wisdom that solitude and quiet bring. Or they watch TV endlessly, not realizing it’s eroding their imagination as well as bankrupting their bank account.
All that matters on your last day on Earth is the potential you’ve leveraged, the heroism you’ve demonstrated and the human lives you’ve graced.
To have the results The Top 5% of producers have, you must start doing what 95% of people are unwilling to do. As you start to live like this, the majority will call you crazy. Remember that being labelled a freak is the price of greatness.
Elite production without quiet vacation causes lasting depletion. Rest and recovery isn’t a luxury for anyone committed to mastery—it’s a necessity.
Nothing beats going to sleep early each night with an unspoiled conscience and a mess-free heart.
With better daily awareness you can make better daily choices, and with better daily choices you’ll start seeing better daily results.
We absolutely need to have at least an hour first thing in the morning to refuel, grow and become healthier, more peaceful people.
We subconsciously adopt a thinking pattern by learning it from the people who most influence us at an early age. Our parents, our teachers and our friends. Then we act according to it. And since what we do creates the results we see, this generally faulty personal story becomes a reality of our very own causing.
Socially, have fewer friends but go deep with them so the relationship is rich. Accept fewer invitations, major in fewer leisure activities and study, then master, a smaller number of books versus skimming many.
One of the fascinating traits of our ancient brain is its negative bias. To keep us safe, it’s far less interested in what’s positive in our environment and significantly more invested in letting us know what’s bad. The primitive brain senses our growth, knows we’re leaving our safe harbour of the known and gets fired up because we’re leaving our traditional ways of being. As we leave our comfort zones, the ancient brain gets triggered. As we raise our expertise and lift our influence, it gets frightened by the change.
And you’ll find many more great things in the book when you read it.
The major mistake that many readers of nonfiction or self-help books make is that if they couldn’t fully execute an idea into their lives or if it doesn’t fully resonate with their goals, they simply disregard it completely. In addition, many people disregard a book with all its lessons altogether just because there is one or a couple of ideas not compatible with their life. This is a serious loss of potential. Loss of everything else the author has to offer and more importantly loss of a great soul that could have achieved greatness. For illustration: if any author advises that at least 30 minutes of exercise is needed daily for good health but you could barely get 10 minutes for exercise in your day, then it’s a million times better to execute it than having no exercise at all. The tragic or interesting (if you have the right perspective) part is that all of our lives are different. No two person on the planet is exactly similar by all means. It’s best to integrate the book (or at least one simple idea from the book) into your life whatever you consider being the best for your life. As Robin Sharma himself says- “The smallest of actions is always better than noblest of intentions.”
